Mockbul is a former British Ambassador and diplomat with over 20 years experience in international security, conflict negotiation and with expertise on the wider Muslim world. Prior to joining Inter Mediate, he served in a number of high profile roles in the UK government including as the foreign policy adviser on the Muslim world to three former British Foreign Secretaries, Political Counsellor in Egypt, Chief of Staff to the UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Libya, Deputy British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain and most recently as the British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
Mockbul has also worked across over 30 countries, including in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia and South-East Asia and has previously played a key role in shaping the UK government’s engagement with the Muslim world. He has lectured internationally on security policy and counter terrorism as a leading subject matter expert.
Mockbul completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Defence Studies and was the first civilian to receive the RCDS Award for Strategic Leadership. He holds a Master’s degree in international security and strategy from King’s College London. Mockbul was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2010 for services to foreign policy.
